The terms that apply when you leave a device with CompuCare Centre for diagnosis, repair or support.
Last updated: 16 September 2026
Diagnostics are free when you proceed with the repair. If we successfully identify the fault and provide a quotation but you choose not to proceed, a £25 diagnostic fee applies. No fee is charged if we cannot identify the fault or the device cannot reasonably be repaired. See Section 2 below.
These Terms & Conditions apply whenever you leave or submit a computer, laptop, MacBook, mobile phone, tablet, storage device or any other equipment to CompuCare Centre for diagnosis, repair, upgrade, data recovery or technical support.
By leaving a device with us, or requesting a repair, diagnostic or support service, you accept these Terms & Conditions on behalf of yourself and any organisation you represent.
CompuCare Centre offers free diagnostics when you proceed with the recommended repair.
If we carry out diagnostic and fault-finding work, successfully identify the fault and provide you with a repair quotation, but you decide not to proceed with the repair, a £25 diagnostic fee will apply to cover the technician's diagnostic time.
If we are unable to identify the fault, or we determine that the device cannot reasonably be repaired, no diagnostic fee will normally be charged.
The diagnostic fee relates to the professional time and work involved in identifying the fault. It is payable even if you subsequently choose to repair the device yourself or have it repaired elsewhere.
Where practical, you will be informed of the estimated repair cost before any chargeable repair work is carried out.
If additional faults or costs are discovered during the repair, we may contact you for further approval before proceeding.
Quotations may be subject to change if additional faults or previously hidden damage are discovered once the device is opened, dismantled or fully tested.
If CompuCare Centre is unable to carry out the agreed repair successfully, you will generally not be charged for the unsuccessful repair work.
This does not necessarily apply to separately agreed diagnostic charges, data recovery work, special-order parts, customer-authorised work already completed, or other services where charges have been agreed in advance.
The £25 diagnostic fee set out in Section 2 remains payable where we have successfully diagnosed the fault and you choose not to proceed with the repair.
You are strongly advised to back up all important data before submitting a device for repair.
Although CompuCare Centre will take reasonable care when handling customer devices and data, repairs involving storage devices, operating systems, malware, hardware failure or data recovery can involve a risk of data loss.
You remain responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of your data. We do not accept responsibility for data lost during a repair that we have not been specifically instructed to recover or protect.
Data recovery cannot be guaranteed. The success of any recovery attempt depends on the condition of the storage device and the extent of physical or logical damage.
Charges for data recovery services relate to the work and time involved, and you will be informed of applicable charges before work begins where practical.
In some cases, a successful partial recovery may be possible even where a full recovery is not.
You may need to provide passwords, PINs or other access information required for us to diagnose and test your device.
We will only use this access as reasonably necessary to perform the requested service and to test that the device is working correctly after the repair.
Where practical, you should remove or secure highly sensitive personal information before submitting a device.
Your information and personal data will be handled appropriately and in accordance with applicable UK data protection requirements.
For details of how we collect, use and protect personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.
Repairs may use original, OEM, refurbished or compatible replacement parts depending on availability, your preference and the agreed quotation.
Where appropriate, the type of replacement part will be discussed with you before the repair is carried out.
Where CompuCare Centre agrees to install a component or replacement part supplied by you, we cannot guarantee the quality, compatibility or reliability of that part.
Any warranty provided by CompuCare Centre applies only to the installation workmanship and not to defects in the customer-supplied component itself, subject to applicable consumer law.
Qualifying repairs and replacement parts supplied by CompuCare Centre are covered by a 90-day warranty on parts and labour unless otherwise stated at the time of the repair.
The warranty covers the specific repair performed and the parts supplied by CompuCare Centre.
The warranty does not cover unrelated faults, accidental or physical damage, liquid damage occurring after the repair, misuse, malware or software issues unrelated to the original repair, or subsequent work carried out by another repairer.
All warranty wording is subject to your statutory rights.
Liquid-damaged or severely damaged devices can be unpredictable. A successful initial repair does not guarantee that other components will not fail later as a result of corrosion or previous damage.
We will explain known risks to you where reasonably possible, but some issues may not become apparent until after the device has been returned.
CompuCare Centre is not responsible for faults, damage or deterioration that existed before the device was submitted for repair.
Some existing problems may only become apparent once the device is opened, dismantled or fully tested.
Some repairs require devices to be dismantled. Previously damaged, weakened, aged or degraded components may fail during normal diagnostic or repair procedures despite reasonable care being taken.
This clause does not exclude our liability for damage caused by our own negligence where such liability cannot legally be excluded.
Software repairs, operating system installations and malware removal may sometimes require software to be reset, removed or reinstalled.
You are responsible for ensuring you have valid licences for any software you wish to have reinstalled.
We cannot guarantee that all third-party software will remain compatible following operating system repairs or upgrades.
Estimated completion times are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed.
Repairs may be delayed by factors including parts availability, supplier delays, additional faults or the complexity of the repair.
We will keep you informed of any significant delays where reasonably possible.
Payment is due when the repair or service is completed and before or upon collection of the device, unless another arrangement has been agreed in advance.
Accepted payment methods include cash, card and contactless payments. Please ask in store if you are unsure whether a particular method is accepted.
If you fail to collect a device, we will attempt to contact you using the contact details you provided.
CompuCare Centre reserves the right to take reasonable steps permitted by applicable law regarding goods that remain uncollected after reasonable attempts have been made to contact you.
Any storage fees will only apply if you have been clearly informed of them in advance.
You are encouraged to inspect and, where practical, test your device when collecting it and to notify CompuCare Centre promptly if you believe there is an issue with the repair.
This does not affect your statutory rights.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded under applicable UK law.
Subject to the above, our liability for any single claim arising from a repair or service is limited to the cost of the repair or service provided, or the cost of restoring the device to the condition it was in before the repair, whichever is lower.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights under applicable UK consumer law.
If you are unhappy with a service or repair, please contact CompuCare Centre first and allow us a reasonable opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.
